Dr Wing’s career included over twenty years as a commissioned officer in the Australian Army, initially as a paratrooper, and later in intelligence, special forces, peace-keeping and counter-terrorist operations.

His operational background includes South-East Asia, East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq – for which he was awarded the United States Bronze Star Medal.

He is highly-experienced in private enterprise and the delivery of strategic intelligence and security solutions.

He holds three degrees in political science – including his doctorate in national security – and has held research and professorial appointments at three major Australian universities.

He is a Board-Certified Protection Professional and an elected Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers, having served as its National President for seven years.

He is the author of over seventy papers, monographs and book chapters on national security, counter-terrorism and intelligence.
